【Disposal Methods】
SRP: At the time of review, criteria for land treatment or burial (sanitary landfill) disposal practices are subject to significant revision. Prior to implementing land disposal of waste residue (including waste sludge), consult with environmental regulatory agencies for guidance on acceptable disposal practices.

Use and Manufacturing

【Usage】

Major uses include fungicide effective against oomycetes, especially peronosporaceae and phytophthora spp. (But not pythium spp.) In vines, potatoes and tomatoes. Used in combination with fungicides (dithianon, mancozeb or copper compounds). Fungicide.

Environmental Fate and Exposure Potential

【Environmental Fate/Exposure Summary】
TERRESTRIAL FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), an estimated Koc value of 684(SRC), determined from a log Kow of 2.68(2) and a regression-derived equation(3), indicates that dimethomorph is expected to have low mobility in soil(SRC). Volatilization of dimethomorph from moist soil surfaces is not expected to be an important fate process(SRC) given an estimated Henry's Law constant of 1.0X10-15 atm-cu m/mole(SRC), using a fragment constant estimation method(4). Dimethomorph is not expected to volatilize from dry soil surfaces(SRC) based upon a vapor pressure of 7.3X10-6 mm Hg(2).
AQUATIC FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), an estimated Koc value of 684(SRC), determined from a log Kow of 2.68(2) and a regression-derived equation(3), indicates that dimethomorph is expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment in water(SRC). Volatilization from water surfaces is not expected(3) based upon an estimated Henry's Law constant of 1.0X10-15 atm-cu m/mole(SRC), developed using a fragment constant estimation method(4). According to a classification scheme(5), an estimated BCF of 23(SRC), from its log Kow(2) and a regression-derived equation(6), suggests the potential for bioconcentration in aquatic organisms is low.
ATMOSPHERIC FATE: According to a model of gas/particle partitioning of semivolatile organic compounds in the atmosphere(1), dimethomorph, which has a vapor pressure of 7.3X10-6 mm Hg at 25 deg C(2), is expected to exist in both the vapor and particulate phases in the ambient atmosphere. Vapor-phase dimethomorph is degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals and ozone molecules(SRC). The half-life for the reaction with hydroxyl radicals in air is estimated to be 4 hours(SRC), from its rate constant of 1.1X10-10 cu cm/molecule-sec at 25 deg C(3). The half-life for the reaction with ozone is estimated to be 1 hour(SRC), from its estimated rate constant of 2.5X10-16 cu cm/molecule-sec at 25 deg C(4). Particulate-phase dimethomorph may be removed from the air by wet and dry deposition(SRC). Dimethomorph absorbs light greater than 290 nm and may undergo direct photolysis in the environment(SRC), but the kinetics of this reaction are unknown.
